Introduction to Keeping Goats Course

Details

Join Lizzie Dyer of Cotswold Kid Meat on the Farm

Join us on our goat farm for a one day course designed to give you the knowledge and experience to decide if keeping goats is for you!  Or, perhaps you have had goats in the past and want to brush up on your skills and understanding of these very unique and rewarding animals.

We’ll start the morning at 10am with tea and coffee, along with something sweet to sustain you until lunchtime. Later in the day, we’ll serve up a hearty lunch to fuel you for the afternoon session.

The day will be a combination of:

Time spent inside talking and discussing all things goats

Plenty of time outside getting hands-on experience of handling, moving and looking after our goats

What will we cover in the Introduction to Goat Keeping Course?

The fundamentals of goat keeping – what is necessary to keep goats, from the legal side to the welfare requirements

Why goats?  Learn about the breeds and why goats are so versatile and synonymous with small holdings

The practical implications of keeping goats – land required, shelters, fencing – yes they can be kept in with suitable fencing!

Keeping goats healthy – learn the basic theory but more importantly learn how to keep you goats healthy – prevention is better than cure!

The day will finish by 4pm   You will be given a written summary of all you learn on the day to take home with you.

Cost £150 per person (plus VAT)

 Numbers are strictly limited
